Visit to Cristo Rey Miami High School
The leadership at Cristo Rey Miami High School invited our Director, Fr. Jorge Luis Rojas, and a delegation of Congregantes, Cesar Guerrero, Erik Vieira, and Manny Anton, for a campus visit to learn about the progress of the school and meet some of the student ambassadors. Congregante Julio Villafane, who serves on the Board of Trustees for the school, facilitated the visit. The President and CEO of the school, Amelie Ferro, led the tour. The school repurposed the campus to meet the needs of the inaugural freshman and sophomore classes. Additionally, it is nearing completion of a brand new, 38,000 square foot academic building that will permit the school to reach its capacity. Construction is on target to be completed in early 2025 and will house all four classes.
Ms. Ferro discussed the mission, values, and plans for the school. During the lunch hour, two of the student ambassadors shared their personal experience at the school, and in particular, the work-study program. Cristo Rey Miami is committed to forming professional leaders for the propagation of the faith by unlocking the potential of hard-working students from low-income families and empowering them to succeed in college and excel in their future careers. Cristo Rey expressed their gratitude for the ACU’s faithful and generous support. Tomorrow, May 8th, the leadership will present the 'state of activity' at the Miami Chapter Guardia and share ideas through which Agrupados may be able to engage the school through faith formation and apostolate.
