ACU @ UM 9/20/26
Once again, 21 students attended our meeting on September 20, as the student leaders continue doing an excellent job recruiting and building the group. The meeting began, as usual, with the singing of the “Salve Regina,” followed by a presentation from Seth Caraecle, ACU Management Administrator, entitled “Becoming a Man Who Can Love.”
Drawing heavily from St. John Paul II’s Theology of the Body and the spirituality of St. Ignatius of Loyola, Seth challenged the students to think about dating not simply as the search for the right woman, but as a call to first become the kind of man capable of truly loving another person. He discussed the Christian understanding of love as a sincere gift of self, the nuptial meaning of the body, the importance of self-mastery and chastity, and the difference between loving another person and using them for one’s own desires. The talk also incorporated Ignatian discernment, encouraging the men to examine their intentions and attachments and to seek God’s will above their own desired outcomes when discerning relationships and vocation. The practical nature of the presentation led to a lively dialogue among the students about dating, relationships, and what authentic Catholic masculinity should look like.
There was also growing enthusiasm among several of the students for the upcoming Atlanta Lechón and the opportunity to experience the broader fraternity of the ACU.
