The ACU @ Texas A&M Pase de Aspirante & Postulante
Last Saturday, April 12, 2025, our director, Fr. Jorge Luis Rojas, S.J., welcomed six young men from the Texas A&M student group in to the ACU. One of them, Ramiro Rodríguez, Jr., was admitted as an aspirant. Ramiro Jr. is studying business administration and marketing. And five young men were admitted as postulants:
Adam Gomez – studying manufacturing mechanical engineering
Carlos Dortolina – studying chemical engineering
Christian Dominguez – studying Public Health/Pre-Med
Eduardo Cortez – studying horticulture
Isaiah Rosas – studying mechanical engineering
Mass was celebrated at the Historic St. Mary’s Catholic Center Church in College Station, Texas, which serves the community at Texas A&M University. We are grateful to Fr. Will Straten, pastor of St. Mary’s, for hosting us and allowing us to use the Historic Church for the Mass. Texas A&M is one of the largest public universities in the United States, with approximately 72,000 undergraduate students enrolled, approximately 20% of whom are Catholic. It was fitting that the Mass be celebrated at the Historic Church, as it was a historic event for ACU, celebrating its first Mass on campus and welcoming the first aspirants and postulants of the Texas A&M student group.
The group, currently operating as a Mission of the Atlanta Chapter, is on the right path to establishing itself as an ACU Chapter. It will be the first new chapter for ACU in decades. The Texas A&M student group was founded in 2023 under the guidance of Congregant Ramiro E. Rodriguez and the encouragement of his son Ramiro Jr. In the summer of 2023, after completing his freshman year at Texas A&M, Ramiro Jr. established a group of students interested in the ACU. Ramiro Sr. accepted his son’s request to lead them in formation with the goal of formally joining ACU. Ramiro Jr. took it upon himself to recruit friends and other students who were interested in formation. The group met regularly throughout the academic year for formation and community life. We thank Congregant Ramiro for his time and talent in leading this aspirantado. As the group coalesced, the Atlanta Chapter, presided over by Alex Saker Jr., adopted it as a Mission of the ACU and supported Ramiro with formation materials and financial resources. Ramiro became a Congregant on April 18, 1993. He and his wife Jessika have four children, three boys and one girl, the oldest of whom is Ramiro Jr., now an aspirant in the ACU. We thank Ramiro’s family for their support and encouragement in this mission entrusted to him by the ACU.
Our director, Fr. Rojas, celebrated Mass and received the young men. Fr. Rojas traveled with our national president, Dr. Manny Antón, our pastoral administrator, Erik Vieira, and aspirant Danilo Alves, from the young professionals group. Additionally, Anthony Iturbe, former president of the Esto Vir Group of the Miami Chapter, was present at the celebration. Anthony is a first-year electrical engineering student at Rice University in Houston. Let us continue to pray for the mission of the ACU and the aspirantados in Houston/College Station, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Miami, and San Juan.

El pasado sábado 12 de abril de 2025, nuestro director, el P. Jorge Luis Rojas, S.J., recibió en la ACU a seis jóvenes del grupo estudiantil de Texas A&M. Uno de ellos, Ramiro Rodríguez, Jr., fue admitido como aspirante. Ramiro Jr. estudia administración de empresas y marketing. Y cinco jóvenes fueron admitidos como postulantes:

La misa se celebró en la Iglesia Histórica del Centro Católico St. Mary’s en College Station, Texas, que sirve a la comunidad de la Universidad Texas A&M. Agradecemos al P. Will Straten, párroco de St. Mary’s, por recibirnos y permitirnos utilizar la Iglesia Histórica para la misa. Texas A&M es una de las universidades públicas más grandes de Estados Unidos, con aproximadamente 72,000 estudiantes universitarios matriculados, de los cuales aproximadamente el 20% son católicos. Fue apropiado que la Misa se celebrara en la Iglesia Histórica, ya que fue un evento histórico para la ACU, ya que celebró su primera Misa en el campus y recibió a los primeros aspirantes y postulantes del grupo estudiantil de Texas A&M. Agradecemos al Congregante Ramiro por su tiempo y talento para liderar a este nuevo aspirantado. A medida que el grupo se consolidaba, el Capítulo de Atlanta, presidido por Alex Saker Jr., lo asumió como una Misión y apoyó a Ramiro con materiales de formación y recursos económicos. Ramiro paso a Congregante el 18 de abril de 1993. Junto a su esposa Jessika tienen cuatro hijos, tres varones y una hembra, el mayor de los cuales es Ramiro Jr., el aspirante recién recibido.
Agradecemos a su familia por el apoyo y soporte que dan a nuestro hermano Congregante en esta misión que le ha encomendado la ACU. Nuestro director, el P. Rojas, celebró la misa y recibió a los jóvenes. El P. Rojas viajó con nuestro presidente nacional, el Dr. Manny Antón; nuestro administrador pastoral, Erik Vieira; y el aspirante Danilo Alves, del grupo de jóvenes profesionales. Además, Anthony Iturbe, expresidente del Grupo Esto Vir del Capítulo de Miami, estuvo presente en la celebración.
