Cristo Rey Miami Ribbon Cutting
This past Tuesday, April 8, 2025, Cristo Rey Miami High School held a ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate the opening of its new academic building. Archbishop of Miami Thomas Wenski was a featured guest. He led the invocation for the ceremony, blessed the building, and gave a brief address to the participants highlighting the Catholic identity of the school. Other speakers included Amelie Ferro, the President of the school, Deontè Green, the Principal, and Roger Shay, Jr., Chairman of the Board. Congregante Julio Villafane, a Board Trustee for the School, has been involved with the program since the Feasibility Study Committee was formed in 2017. As the school increases its enrollment, Julio is working to connect the students with the ACU to establish access to formation in Ignatian Spirituality and the Spiritual Exercises. In attendance at the ceremony with Julio were Congregantes Mariano Perez and Erik Vieira. Over the past three years, the Father Amando Llorente, S.J., Foundation, Inc., has supported the campus ministry program of the school with financial grants.
El pasado martes 8 de abril de 2025, la Escuela Secundaria Cristo Rey Miami celebró una ceremonia de inauguración para conmemorar la apertura de su nuevo edificio académico. El Arzobispo de Miami, Thomas Wenski, fue uno de los invitados especiales. Dirigió la invocación de la ceremonia, bendijo el edificio y ofreció un breve discurso a los participantes, destacando la identidad católica de la escuela. Otros oradores incluyeron a Amelie Ferro, presidenta de la escuela; Deontè Green, director; y Roger Shay, Jr., presidente de la Junta Directiva. El congregante Julio Villafañe, miembro de la Junta Directiva de la escuela, ha participado en el programa desde la formación del Comité de Estudio de Viabilidad en 2017. A medida que la escuela aumenta su matrícula, Julio trabaja para conectar a los estudiantes con la ACU para facilitar el acceso a la formación en Espiritualidad Ignaciana y los Ejercicios Espirituales. Durante los últimos tres años, la Fundación Padre Amando Llorente, S.J., Inc., ha apoyado el programa de ministerio universitario de la escuela con subvenciones financieras.
