Catholic Gators Apostolate
To begin the second semester of the 2023-2024 academic year, the Catholic Gators apostolate partnered with the Alumni Office of Belen Jesuit Preparatory School for a social event on Friday, January 19, 2024, at Midtown. It was a fantastic event that brought together nearly 70 Belen alumni who are current students at the University of Florida. At the event, we had an opportunity to meet several Belen alumni and chat with them about their time at UF so far. We covered topics ranging from studies to faith involvement to sports. It was a great networking opportunity to show Belen alumni that there is a strong Catholic community at UF, through the partnership of the Catholic Gators, the ACU, and FOCUS. Fr. Willie García-Tuñón, S.J., president of Belen and prior Director of the ACU, addressed the group and reminded them that they are called to be well rounded Catholic men. He also encouraged them to become involved with the Catholic Gators program. We were also joined by an alumni of the Esto Vir Group, Luis Gonzalez, Belen class of 2020, who is completing studies at NYU. The Catholic Gators and the ACU are prepared to follow through with these men on their faith journey and look forward to future encounters!
