Can a Catholic in the Modern Era be in Favor of the Death Penalty?

That was the topic presented by Alberto Delgado, J.D. at the first meeting of this semester of the ACU University of Miami student group.  Albert chronicled the justification for the use of capital punishment from the point of view of natural law, self-defense, and retributive justice, to the current teaching of the Church as presented in the Catechism.
