FIU Aspirantado Reflects on the Decline of Morality in Modern Society

This past Wednesday, October 14, 2026, the FIU Aspirantado gathered at St. Agatha, home of the Catholic @ FIU campus ministry program, for another formation meeting. Agrupado William Cueto, who serves as Instructor for the FIU Aspirantado, led a discussion on the decline of morality in modern society, particularly the growing confusion surrounding fundamental moral questions and the distinction between right and wrong. William challenged the students to reflect on how society has increasingly moved away from objective moral truths and the teachings of the Catholic Church. He emphasized the responsibility of Catholics not only to recognize these challenges but also to respond courageously through faith, reason, and the example of their daily lives. Also present were Seth Caraecle, the ACU's Management Administrator, and Matias Barbosa-Garcia, the ACU's College Coordinator, who accompanied the students in their ongoing formation. The discussion encouraged the students to consider their own roles as Catholic men in defending the truth, standing firm in their convictions, and serving as witnesses to Christ in their universities, families, and communities. The meeting reinforced the mission of the ACU to form men who are committed to growing in holiness and becoming leaders capable of bringing Christ's teachings into an increasingly secular world.
