ACU Atlanta Lechón 2025
This past Saturday, September 27, 2025, the ACU Atlanta Chapter celebrated its 47th annual Lechón Family event. On Friday the 26th, Luis Sanchez from the UM ACU group and four early arrival students from UM had the opportunity to go white water rafting. There are some great pictures of their excursion included. A team consisting of five of the ACU Atlanta founders (Jesus, Manny, Alex, Jose, and Jorge), several current ACU leaders (Lorenzo, Tim) and then a Puerto Rico contingent of five students spent the evening Friday marinating the Lechón and preparing it for cooking on Saturday. Students continued to arrive to Atlanta into the evening along with our Director Fr. Jorge Luis Rojas, S.J.
On Saturday, the students arrived at the venue (Immaculate Heart of Mary Church) early and began the Caja China process. After a light breakfast, Alex Saker, Atlanta President, convened and directed an ACU Instruction on the History, Spirituality, Apostolados and Purpose of the ACU for the some twenty students from Atlanta, Puerto Rico and Miami that attended the Lechón event. The Texas A&M group also joined the instrucción by Zoom. At midday, Fr. Rojas, S.J., celebrated a mass for the students and the many members of ACU Atlanta present.
The folks spent the next few hours eating the Lechón and meal, and forming the traditional patio de la Agrupación. The students stayed until the end assisting with the cleanup, especially of the Caja China and other instruments of the event. Thereafter, a number of students attended an Atlanta Braves baseball game and others went to dinner. Sunday, the travelers departed for their respective homes. The event provided a unique spiritual and fun gathering for all corners of the ACU, bringing together different geographies, cultures and most importantly, the unifying spirit of the Agrupación Católica Universitaria.

El pasado sábado 27 de septiembre de 2025, el Capítulo de ACU Atlanta celebró su 45.º evento anual de la Familia Lechón. El viernes 26, Luis Sánchez, del grupo de ACU de la UM, y cuatro estudiantes de la UM que llegaron temprano tuvieron la oportunidad de practicar rafting. Incluyen fotos magníficas de la excursión. Un equipo formado por cinco de los fundadores de ACU Atlanta (Jesús, Manny, Alex, José y Jorge), varios líderes actuales de ACU (Lorenzo y Tim) y un contingente puertorriqueño de cinco estudiantes pasaron la noche del viernes marinando el lechón y preparándolo para cocinarlo el sábado. Los estudiantes continuaron llegando a Atlanta hasta la noche, junto con nuestro director, el P. Jorge Luis Rojas, S.J.
El sábado, los estudiantes llegaron temprano al lugar (Iglesia del Inmaculado Corazón de María) y comenzaron el proceso de la Caja China. Tras un desayuno ligero, Alex Saker, presidente de Atlanta, convocó y dirigió una instrucción de la ACU sobre la historia, la espiritualidad, los apostolados y el propósito de la ACU para los veinte estudiantes de Atlanta, Puerto Rico y Miami que asistieron al evento del Lechón. El grupo de Texas A&M también se unió a la instrucción por Zoom. Al mediodía, el P. Rojas, S.J., celebró una misa para los estudiantes y los numerosos miembros de la ACU Atlanta presentes.
Los presentes pasaron las siguientes horas disfrutando del Lechón y la cena, formando el tradicional patio de la Agrupación. Los estudiantes se quedaron hasta el final ayudando con la limpieza, especialmente de la Caja China y otros instrumentos del evento. Posteriormente, varios estudiantes asistieron a un partido de béisbol de los Bravos de Atlanta y otros cenaron. El domingo, los participantes regresaron a sus respectivos hogares.
El evento brindó una reunión espiritual y divertida única para todos los rincones de la ACU, reuniendo diferentes geografías, culturas y, sobre todo, el espíritu unificador de la Agrupación Católica Universitaria.
