2024 Marian Sodality Congress
This past weekend from June 9 to June 10, 7 Agrupados attended the 2024 Marian Sodality Congress at the Catholic Studies Center in St. Louis University, St. Louis, Missouri. The Agrupados were accompanied by 10 alumni of the Esto Vir Group, including Eric Lastres, S.J., who is currently in First Studies for Philosophy at St. Louis. Also in attendance from the Esto Vir Group was Luis Gonzalez, who was recently accepted to the Jesuit Novitiate for the Province of the Caribbean.
Four of the Agrupados in attendance were involved in planning and leading the Conference.
David Fernandez led the introduction to the Congress and a session on Sodality Strategic Planning and a workshop during which small groups developed a vision for establishing Sodalities at Jesuit institutions.
Erik Vieira led a presentation on the documents of Pope Pius XII on Marian Sodalities.
Luis Sanchez gave a witness based on his experience as the National President of the ACU and incorporated the importance of structure.
Willie Cueto led a discussion on virtuous leadership.
Eric Lastres, S.J., also gave a witness based on his experience establishing the Esto Vir Group.
Congregante David Kiblinger, S.J., was also in attendance and presided over the Eucharistic Adoration and Benediction.
Approximately 15 Jesuits were in attendance at the conference with the goal of learning more about Marian Sodalities and developing a plan of action of establishing Sodalities at their institutions.
Prior to the start of the Conference, Congregante Mariano Perez met Congregante Jose Lopez, S.J., at Mass in College Church. Jose passed to Congregante in December 6, 2008, and is the son of Congregante Tony Lopez, who is a professor at Saint Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary in Boynton Beach, FLorida.
Fr. Matthew Baugh, S.J., presided over the closing Mass.
2024 Congresso de Congregaciones Marianas
Este pasado fin de semana del 9 al 10 de junio, 7 Agrupados asistieron al Congreso de la Congregación Mariana 2024 en el Centro de Estudios Católicos de la Universidad de St. Louis, St. Louis, Missouri. Los Agrupados estuvieron acompañados por 10 ex alumnos del Grupo Esto Vir, incluido Eric Lastres, S.J., quien actualmente cursa Primeros Estudios de Filosofía en St. Louis. También asistió del Grupo Esto Vir Luis González, quien recientemente fue aceptado en el Noviciado Jesuita de la Provincia del Caribe.
Cuatro de los Agrupados presentes participaron en la planificación y dirección de la Conferencia.
