The ACU @ FIU
This past Monday, February 9th, the members of the FIU student group held their regularly scheduled formation meeting with their instructor, Congregante William Cueto. Willie gave an introduction to the book Unshakeable, by Fr. Mike Schmitz, which covers 15 virtues that Fr. Mike deems essential to the practice of faith in our modern world. The students will be covering that book over Lent. That same day in the evening, the students attended a social outing at the Kaseya Center in downtown Miami for the Miami Heat versus Utah Jazz basketball game. The group was joined by Mitch Louwagie and Thomas Benson, the FOCUS missionary assigned to Florida International University. Mitch and Thomas brought some new recruits from the Catholic @ FIU campus ministry program. Fr. Luis Pavon is the Campus Minister for FIU and in residence at St. Agatha Catholic Church, which operates the Catholic @ FIU campus ministry for FIU. We remain grateful for the support of Fr. Pavon and the FOCUS missionaries and look forward to the continued growth of our collaboration. The student group includes one postulant and four aspirants.
El pasado lunes 9 de febrero, los miembros del grupo estudiantil de FIU celebraron su reunión de formación regular con su instructor, el congregante William Cueto. Willie presentó el libro "Unshakeable", del P. Mike Schmitz, que abarca 15 virtudes que el P. Mike considera esenciales para la práctica de la fe en nuestro mundo moderno. Los estudiantes estudiarán este libro durante la Cuaresma. Ese mismo día, por la tarde, asistieron a una salida social en el Kaseya Center, en el centro de Miami, para el partido de baloncesto entre los Miami Heat y los Utah Jazz. El grupo contó con la presencia de Mitch Louwagie y Thomas Benson, misionero FOCUS asignado a la Universidad Internacional de Florida. Mitch y Thomas trajeron a algunos nuevos miembros del programa de ministerio universitario "Católicos en FIU". El P. Luis Pavón es el Ministro Universitario de FIU y reside en la Iglesia Católica de Santa Ágata, donde se lleva a cabo el ministerio universitario "Católicos en FIU". Agradecemos el apoyo del P. Pavón y de los misioneros FOCUS y esperamos que nuestra colaboración siga creciendo. El grupo de estudiantes está formado por un postulante y cuatro aspirantes.
