The ACU @ Catholic Gators
The team from the Miami Chapter traveled to Gainesville, Florida, this past Monday, January 26th, for the first meeting of the spring semester with the men's group of the Catholic Gators ministry at the University of Florida through St. Augustine Catholic Church and Student Center. Andres Manrara, Gerry Portela, and Jay Velasco were joined by Dr. Manny Anton, national president of the ACU, for the visit. On Monday night, Dr. Anton presented to the men's group on the various Church Councils throughout history and the main issues addressed by each Council. On Tuesday morning, Gerry Portela led the ACU instruction for the aspirantado group, which is a smaller subset of men derived from the men's group. On Tuesday afternoon, the ACU team treated the aspirantado group to lunch. The ACU team also spent time with Fr. Blair Gaynes, pastor of St. Augustine, and the campus ministry team. The ACU is preparing a set of Spiritual Exercises for the students in March, which will be co-led by Fr. Joseph Hill, S.J., and Eric Lastres, S.J.

El equipo del Capítulo de Miami viajó a Gainesville, Florida, el pasado lunes 26 de enero, para la primera reunión del semestre de primavera con el grupo de hombres del ministerio Catholic Gators de la Universidad de Florida, a través de la Iglesia Católica de San Agustín y el Centro de Estudiantes. Andrés Manrara, Gerry Portela y Jay Velasco estuvieron acompañados por el Dr. Manny Anton, presidente nacional de la ACU. El lunes por la noche, el Dr. Anton presentó al grupo de hombres los diversos Consejos de la Iglesia a lo largo de la historia y los principales temas abordados por cada uno. El martes por la mañana, Gerry Portela dirigió la instrucción de la ACU para el grupo de aspirantes, un subgrupo más pequeño de hombres derivado del grupo de hombres. El martes por la tarde, el equipo de la ACU invitó a almorzar al grupo de aspirantes. El equipo de la ACU también compartió tiempo con el P. Blair Gaynes, párroco de San Agustín, y el equipo de ministerio universitario. La ACU está preparando una serie de Ejercicios Espirituales para los estudiantes en marzo, que serán codirigidos por el P. Joseph Hill, S.J., y Eric Lastres, S.J.
