Provincial Visit
This past Tuesday, September 8, the Agrupación Católica Universitaria had the privilege of welcoming the new Provincial of the Jesuits’ Caribbean Province, Fr. Jorge William Hernández Díaz, S.J., during the ACU’s weekly Guardia in Miami.
Fr. William served as the principal celebrant of the evening’s Mass and was warmly welcomed by our Director, Fr. Jorge Luis Rojas, S.J., and the Congregantes and Agrupados in attendance. Following Mass, Fr. William addressed the ACU and shared his vision for the Caribbean Province as he begins his service as Provincial.
Fr. William already has a meaningful relationship with the ACU. Prior to his appointment as Provincial, he served as pastor of Santísima Trinidad University Parish in Santo Domingo, where he collaborated with the Agrupación in preparing for the launch of the ACU aspirantado in the Dominican Republic. He has also previously directed the Spiritual Exercises for members of the ACU.
The evening provided Congregantes and Agrupados an opportunity not only to welcome the new Provincial, but also to hear directly about his vision for the future of the Caribbean Province and the role the ACU can play within the wider Jesuit mission.
The ACU is grateful to Fr. William for spending the evening with us and assures him of our prayers as he begins his service as Provincial. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with the Society of Jesus in forming men committed to a deep spiritual life, professional excellence, and an active apostolate in service to the Church and society.
