ACU at UM

The ACU UM Honor Society held its first meeting of the semester this past Sunday, August 30, welcoming 27 students for an evening of fellowship, formation, and an introduction to the group. The Honor Society will meet on Sundays at 6:30 p.m. in the library at St. Augustine Catholic Church, prior to the 8:00 p.m. college Mass.

Student leaders Anthony Carcamese and Maroun Issa led the evening’s discussion, introducing students to St. Ignatius of Loyola as our patron saint and discussing why students should consider becoming involved with the group.

Congregante Luis Sanchez offered a short reflection on the ACU ideal, “En cada primer puesto, un Agrupado,” the three pillars of the Agrupación, and the Ignatian questions: “What have I done for Christ? What am I doing for Christ? What ought I do for Christ?”

Congregantes Al Ledo and Sergio Rodriguez were also present as members of the ACU leadership team supporting the group. Matias Barbosa joined the students in his new position with the ACU as University and chapter Coordinator.

During the leadership meeting, the group also had an unexpected encounter with Shannon Dawson, the University of Miami football team’s offensive coordinator. It was a memorable way to begin a new semester of ACU’s growing presence at the University of Miami.
