Fathers and Sons Explore Everglades in Annual Swamp Slog

The Agrupación Católica Universitaria (ACU) Father and Son group participated in their annual Swamp Slog event. Fathers and Sons waded through the iconic wetlands, guided by an expert park ranger.

Beginning at 8:30 AM at the Ernest F. Coe Visitor Center, participants received a safety briefing before embarking on their wet walk. The explorers ventured into the shallow waters, encountering diverse wildlife including alligators, wading birds, and snakes. The event served as both a bonding activity and an educational opportunity. Fathers and sons gained a deeper appreciation for the Everglades ecosystem, learning about its importance for water supply and biodiversity.

The Everglades also serves as an exceptional natural laboratory for exploring Ignatian theology and spirituality. St. Ignatius of Loyola taught that we can find God in all things, including nature. The Everglades, with its rich biodiversity and awe-inspiring landscapes, provides a perfect setting for this spiritual practice.
