Congregant John Buonocore Ordained Transitional Deacon

Last Saturday Congregant John Buonocore was ordained a transitional deacon for the Archdiocese of Miami.  The ordination took place during a Mass at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Boca Raton celebrated by Bishop Erik Pohlmeier, the Bishop of St. Augustine, Florida.  The following day Deacon John proclaimed the Gospel and delivered his first homily at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Miami.

Deacon John is a New York native who graduated from the University of Miami with a degree in biomedical engineering. He was an active member of UCatholic, the University of Miami's Campus Ministry program, and credits his priestly vocation in part to his involvement in campus ministry. In the summer of 2020 he did the 30-day Spiritual Exercises at the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota.  As part of the ACU University of Miami student group he became an ACU Congregant during the 90th anniversary Mass at Gesu Catholic Church in Downtown Miami in 2021. His ACU padrino (sponsor) was Father Pedro Suarez, S.J.

Deacon John will be assisting at the Wednesday May 24 ACU Guardia Mass and will give a presentation afterwards titled Understanding the Apostles' Creed

He has one more year of seminary studies at St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary in Boynton Beach.  God willing, Deacon John will be ordained a priest in May of next year.
